The longer I go without blogging, the more I feel like I have to make up for it with a brilliant, witty, honest, heartfelt post. Or by catching my (3? 4?) readers up on everything I’ve done since my last one. I, now, decided I’m going to ignore all that and just say, “Hi there! I’ve missed you!”

Here is one thing I can’t seem to stop doing: baking scones. They are simple and delicious and there is something therapeutic about the process of baking. Especially the part where I get to work the cold, grated curls of butter into the flour mixture with my fingers. When I first started making these, I resorted to mixing the ingredients in a big pot and baking them in square cake-pans. So rustic, I know! I am thrilled to announce that I am finally enjoying baking my scones using brand new mixing bowls of all sizes and colors, cookie sheets, and spatulas.

I chatted with Rachel, sporadically, while she read on the couch as I listened to much of the latest from The Civil Wars on youtube and baked. A very enjoyable end to an enjoyable day.
